Every Christmas since I was little, my grandma gave me a box of Ferrero Rocher candies as a part of my gift. I absolutely LOVE them. Until just a few years ago when Michael and I moved to Europe, we unfortunately don’t get to see our families over the holiday (and I miss out on my favorite candies from my grandma!). But here in Europe you see Ferrero Rocher’s in every grocery store at this time of year, so I was inspired to make a healthier version!

If you aren’t familiar, Ferrero Rocher’s are a hazelnut and chocolate truffle with an individual hazelnut in the center. They are delicious but I would eat them every night if I could. Enter my healthier version, made with real hazelnuts, dates, and raw cacao powder!

ingredients needed:

Hazelnuts: For this recipe, you’ll need hazelnuts with the skins removed. I recommend buying them already peeled to save you some time removing them.

Dates: You’ll need approximately 25 dates (about 1 1/4 cup) of pitted dates. The dates naturally sweeten these bliss balls! No added sugar.

Raw Cacao Powder: Not only does the raw cacao powder give these bliss balls a delicious chocolate flavor, but raw cacao is a superfood with many health benefits!

Dark Chocolate: Last but not least, the melted dark chocolate brings the bliss balls together, adding a little fun and a lot of deliciousness.

how to make healthy hazelnut bliss balls:

These bliss balls are the easiest healthy treat that you can have ready in 15 minutes or less. All you need to do is add the ingredients (hazelnuts, dates, and cacao) to the food processor and pulse until blended into a sticky dough. Roll that sticky dough into one inch balls, add an individual hazelnut in the center, and drizzle with some dark chocolate. That’s it! So easy and so good.
