healthy hot chocolate

In my mind, hot chocolate and Christmas just go hand in hand. In December, I could quite literally drink a hot chocolate every night after dinner. This recipe is paleo, dairy-free, and sweetened with pure maple syrup making it a healthier option opposed to those hot chocolate packets!

healthy hot chocolate ingredients:

While those hot chocolate packets are delicious, who knows what’s in them (hint: a ton of sugar) and other processed ingredients. This recipes uses three simple, wholesome ingredients to make a healthier version of homemade hot chocolate. Healthy for the holidays!

Raw Cacao Powder: This recipe calls for raw cacao (or cocoa powder) to give a rich, delicious chocolate flavor.

Pure Maple Syrup: The natural sweetener in this hot chocolate. You could also substitute honey or another sweetener of your choice as well.

Oat Milk: I chose oat milk to make my hot chocolate because it’s slightly creamier. You could also use almond milk, coconut milk, or any other milk you love!

Vanilla or Peppermint Extract: For a little extra flavor- you can use either vanilla or peppermint extract.

Extras: Top with marshmallows, whipped cream, candy canes, and more!
